Materials You’ll Need
Don’t worry — nothing fancy here! Most of you probably already have these in your stash.

- Clear Blue (main body color)
- Blue Haze and Blue Moon (for stripes and shading)
- Off-White (for paws, ears, muzzle)
- Red (mouth and tongue)
- Black (stripes and mouth details)
- Small amount of Yellow (eye details)
- Crochet Hook: 5.0 mm (H hook) — this gives him that perfect chunky, huggable size!
- Other goodies: Stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors, polyester fiberfill stuffing, felt sheets in yellow, red, black, and white, plus fabric glue or hot glue for those adorable facial features.
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- MR: Magic Ring
- SC: Single Crochet

Step-by-Step Pattern
1. The Head — Building That Derpy Face!
Start with your main Clear Blue yarn.
- Rnd 1: 6 SC in MR (6)
- Rnd 2: Inc in each stitch around (12)
- Rnd 3: (1 SC, Inc) repeat around (18)
- Rnd 4: (2 SC, Inc) repeat around (24)
- Rnd 5: (3 SC, Inc) repeat around (30)
- Rnd 6: (4 SC, Inc) repeat around (36)
- Rnd 7: (5 SC, Inc) repeat around (42)
- Rnd 8–13: 42 SC around (6 rounds total — this is where his head gets nice and round!)
Now start shaping:
- Rnd 14: (5 SC, Dec) repeat around (36)
- Rnd 15: (4 SC, Dec) repeat around (30)
- Rnd 16: (3 SC, Dec) repeat around (24)
- Rnd 17: (2 SC, Dec) repeat around (18)
Stuff the head firmly now while the opening is still big enough. You want him nice and squishy but shaped well!
2. Body (This is the FUN part!)
This pattern is genius because you continue directly from the head — no sewing the head on later!
After your head decreases, keep going:
- Rnd 18: Work 18 Increases in the front loops only of the 18 stitches. This creates a nice base for the body → 36 stitches.
- Rnd 19–22: 36 SC around (4 rounds)
- Rnd 23: (4 SC, Dec) repeat around (30)
- Rnd 24: 30 SC around
- Rnd 25: (3 SC, Dec) repeat around (24)
- Rnd 26–27: 24 SC around
- Rnd 28: (2 SC, Dec) repeat around (18)
Keep stuffing the body firmly as you go. Continue decreasing gradually (you can do simple (1 SC, Dec) rounds) until you have about 6–9 stitches left. Close the bottom, weave in the end, and give him a gentle squeeze. He’s starting to look like a real tiger now!
3. Ears, Arms, Legs, and Tail
These are quick and easy separate pieces (low-sew style):
Ears (make 2 in Off-White with Blue accents):
- Start with 6 SC in MR, increase gradually to make small rounded ears. Add black felt or yarn stripes on top.
Arms (make 2):
- Similar to legs — small tubes with off-white paws at the ends. Stuff lightly.
Legs (make 2):
- Slightly bigger than arms for that sitting/cute stance.
Tail:
- A simple chain of stitches, maybe with a little curve. Add black stripes!
Attach everything with your yarn needle or use fabric glue for faster finishing.
4. Facial Features — This is Where the Magic Happens!
This is my favorite part because it brings Derpy to life!
- Cut large yellow felt circles for the eyes with black pupils and red accents around them.
- Glue or embroider the red mouth area with that signature open-mouth derpy look.
- Add tiny white felt teeth peeking out — so cute!
- Glue black stripes on the forehead and cheeks.
- Don’t forget the little red tongue sticking out and small yellow eye details.
Take your time here. The felt pieces really make this kpop demon hunters amigurumi pop!
5. Final Assembly & Finishing Touches
- If anything isn’t already joined, sew or glue ears, arms, legs, and tail securely.
- Shape his body and add extra stuffing where needed.
- Give his face one last check for that perfect derpy expression.
- Optional: Add a tiny felt note on his tongue like in the show!
Tips for Success (Especially for Beginners!)
- Always use a stitch marker — it saves so much frustration!
- Stuff firmly but not so tight that the stitches stretch.
- Invisible decreases give a much cleaner, professional look.
- Don’t rush the felt pieces — they truly make the character come alive.
- If something doesn’t look perfect, that’s okay! Derpy is supposed to be a little imperfect. That’s his charm!
